Craft: Block Printing

We must champion the artisans who bring our designs to life - to celebrate their work and creativity.

CONCEPTOur new block print capsule featuring wash bags, eye masks and hot water bottles is designed in-house by designer Leanne.

MANUFACTURINGOnce samples are approved, production begins in India. Artisans working in a family-run workshop in Jodhpur (a city known for its long history of skilled craftsmanship) handcrafted each layer of this process with care and dedication.

Lengths of fabric cover the artisan's table. Then, using carved wooden blocks dipped in colour; they print directly onto the fabric by hand. Each colour must be dry before the next is applied. This intensive process gets repeated over and over until the length of the material is full of detail.

FINSHING TOUCHESAdding hand-dyed tassels (pictured here hanging out in the heat to dry), vibrant pipping, and logo patches gives these pieces a contemporary
finish - extra Doris-charm.

You can browse the complete collection right here, including block print cushions, wash bags, hot water bottles and eye masks - all pieces of unique artisan art.
