Every piece has a story

Who made it? This question has never been more important, as consumers crave more transparency from brands and honesty around the production of a finished product. 

For us, this is simple to answer. We work directly with small-scale artisans and fully support numerous Indian enterprises with the production of our collections. Their heritage, crafts and commitment bring our designs to life season after season. Without this element, what's our narrative? 

In return, our partnership provides a fundamental source of local employment and income. We want to be involved: to help sustain and celebrate these wonderous Indian crafts and art forms, support artisans to thrive within their home-grown environments, and to stand up against the mass production system.  

We like to meet all of our partners in person as this helps to build close relationships with them - after all, they are an extension of our team here in Suffolk - our luxury. Katie and co's next stop is Turkey to catch up with our cushion-king, Hamsa. 

More recently, we have been working with a team of all-female Indian artisans based in rural Odisha - who specialise in basket weaving - an ancient craft known as 'Torki' locally. Using naturally grown Sabai Grass and Date Palm Leaf - grown locally along the banks of the river - they weave and spiral the twines to create beautiful baskets and patterns. 

How magical are these pictures of them collectively working on our brand-new decorative baskets? They shared that it takes one person an entire day to weave just one basket. Hats off.
