October Stockist in the Spotlight: Javelin

October Stockist in the Spotlight: Javelin

Our October Stockist in the Spotlight is Javelin. An independent shop located just down the road from us, here in Bury St Edmunds.
It’s hard to believe that Javelin first opened in our town 32 years ago, originally as a sports shop. It’s evolved so much over the years and now stocks a variety of men’s and women’s fashion and accessories. More recently it's ventured into lifestyle and home. The Bury shop is a beautiful rambling medieval building with over 450 square metres on 3 floors in Abbeygate Street, stocking everything from My Doris to Polo Ralph Lauren.

We caught-up with Jess for a quick-fire Q&A:
Describe Javelin in just 3 words?
Something for everyone!

How did My Doris catch your attention?
Not only does the jewellery and accessories sit perfectly in our collection, we also love that it is a female led and local brand. What’s not to love!?
Favourite pieces right now?
We love your narrow enamel bangles; the colours are gorgeous and compliment so many of our new season styles.

What's inspiring Team Javelin at the moment?
For us, this season is all about the knitted vests and chunky boots. We get our inspiration from a lot of bloggers, and this is definitely a stand out style this season.

Favourite time of year in the shop?
The run up to Christmas has to be a favourite. You can’t help but get in the festive spirit when the first baubles begin to arrive, and the Christmas tunes begin to play.

Looking ahead, what's exciting for Team Javelin?
Our lifestyle department has been continuing to grow, as you can see via our website, and finding exciting new brands to stock is always fulfilling.
Top fashion tip for us?
It’s all about the wide leg jeans. Tall or small, these are the most flattering jeans you’ll be wearing this season and into the next. Gone are the days of skinnies!

One piece of advice to anyone thinking of opening a shop?
Your shop window reflects your whole content, so be reflective of your brand and have a little fun with it.

Bury Shout Outs?
There is just so much to love about our beautiful home. We are incredibly lucky to be situated on such a beautiful street, Abbeygate Street, that leads down to Angel Hill and the Abbey Gardens, which are a must-do for anyone visiting.
Not only are there some great independent shops, the food and drink scene here is also bustling for a small town. We have plenty of delicious foods from around the world, great coffee spots and a lovely market that happens twice a week.
